Dr. Cynthia M. Turner joined Kaplan University as a faculty member in the School of Nursing in 2010. Her responsibilities include serving as course lead in the family nurse practitioner program and former chair and current member of the Academic Policies Committee. Dr. Turner obtained a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus area of family nurse practitioner from Old Dominion University in 2005.

She is nationally certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Dr. Turner holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in family practice from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Turner has 29 years of nursing experience, including 11 years of nurse practitioner experience. Dr. Turner has taught in online and traditional nursing programs for 10 years in the areas of pediatrics, maternal-child, adult health, community health, geriatrics, family practice, advanced health assessment, pathophysiology, and nurse practitioner clinical courses. She has more than six years of experience in curriculum design and test item development and review for undergraduate and graduate courses of nursing. Dr. Turner is a member of the AANP, National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, North Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association, and Sigma Theta Tau.
