Dr. Olson has extensive experience in non-profit leadership and consultation, education, and instructional design. Dr. Olson is an ordained minister in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church and has most recently served the Reformed Church in America and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church as a consultant for churches in crisis. Currently he serves as a human resources professor for the School of Business and Information Technology at Kaplan University. Dr. Olson’s research interests have centered on virtual teams, technology adaption, qualitative research, webcams, and self-regulated learning.

Since 2011, he has published 11 referred articles in Academy of Management and Learning, Performance Improvement Quarterly, Team Performance Management, The Qualitative Report and the Distance Education Quarterly Review. In the same period, he has 10 referred conference proceedings publications (IABE and IBAM) and 15 professional presentations at Kaplan University (KU Village and General Education Conference). He has also served as a presenter at the Western Academy of Management and the 2010 Kaplan University Research Academy. Dr. Olson has served as a reviewer for the International Leadership Association, Team Performance Management, International Journal of Productivity and Performance Management, and the Journal of Managerial Psychology and is a member of the Association of Talent Development and the Association of Leadership Educators.

As a Kaplan University department chair, Dr. Olson led the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and GAC/Project Management Institute accreditation for the Master of Science in Management and Leadership. Dr. Olson has also worked with his adjunct and full-time professor colleagues to help them attain ACBSP research qualification. Dr. Olson has lead faculty research groups producing referred conference proceedings and referred journal articles resulting in 12 faculty attaining a research qualification. Dr. Olson is currently leading in four Kaplan University faculty research groups, which will result in additional referred publications and research qualifications.
