SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

The Kaplan University School of Business and Information Technology’s mission is focused on developing competencies of career-focused students and empowering them to become ethical, insightful, solutions-oriented decision-makers, leaders, and lifelong learners in what is an increasingly complex and diverse global environment.  

For business students, in addition to the core business administration curriculum, the School offers programs with concentrations focused on disciplines that include accounting, financial planning, real estate, investment, and wealth management.  

For students pursuing information technology credentials, the School prepares graduates with a strong technical foundation and business skills to start or advance careers in application and software development, information security, and database management in government or private enterprise.

The School conferred more than 2,800 degrees and certificates (2,879) in the 2016—2017 academic year.

Programmatic Accreditations  

Programs in Kaplan University’s School of Business and Information Technology have received programmatic accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and the Project Management Institute Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs (GAC).

In August 2017, the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET approved programmatic accreditation for the School’s Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.

Academic Alignments

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has acknowledged that the human resources concentrations in the following programs fully align with SHRM’s HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates: Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Management, and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Additionally, the Master of Science in Finance with the financial planning concentration is a CFP® Board-Registered Program.

ExcelTrackTM: Competency-Based Education Program

In 2016, the School began offering bachelor's degrees in business and information technology through Kaplan University’s competency-based education program called ExcelTrack™. Designed to accelerate academic progress based on existing knowledge, such as previous college credits or workforce experience, ExcelTrackTM is a personalized learning program that gives students more control over their education.
